Michelle is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in North Carolina and Tennessee. She is a Mental Health Wellness Coach. She has always found herself drawn to wanting to help others in any way that she could to ease emotional suffering and pain. She started her career as an intensive in-home therapist in 2006. Since then, she has worked as a counselor with children in the foster care and juvenile systems. She has worked as a school-based therapist. She has also provided an array of outpatient and psychiatric services for the treatment of mental illnesses; substance use disorders and developmental disabilities. She has been practicing in the field of psychology for more than 15 years.
Michelle specializes in trauma- and stressor-related disorders and autism spectrum disorders. She provides coaching to children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing difficulties coping with life challenges and need effective coping skills and problem-solving strategies to be able to improve one's quality of life. She offers Individualized Educational Planning (IEP) coaching to parents with children who receive special education services. She also offers coaching services to caregivers raising a child with a physical/mental disability or an elderly parent.
Michelle earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Austin Peay State University. She continued her education at Capella University, received a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling, and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Michelle is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in the state of North Carolina, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Tennessee and a Nationally Board Certified Counselor (NCC). Through EMDR Consulting, Michelle was trained and became an Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist. Michelle also served as the Assistant to the President of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in Fayetteville, NC and served as a Board Member.
Professionally, Michelle has worked in a variety of settings serving different populations, both as an LCMHC and as a supervisor to other therapists who were working towards their professional credentials.
Michelle works extensively with individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and autism spectrum disorder.
Michelle currently works remotely both in Tennessee and in North Carolina (virtually) with individuals and groups. She also mentors to therapists seeking their professional credentials.
